Financial assistance

1) The Enrico and Enrica Sovena Foundation was set up to assist graduates in medicine and surgery and in other such subjects in a wide variety of ways, for example with cash grants for study, contributions to travel expenses for trips taken for study, scholarships for courses in professional development, further training and specialisation in the sciences. (art. 3 in the by-laws)

2) The Foundation considers applications from both Italian and foreign citizens

3) The amounts available for cash grants, contributions and scholarships will be established on a yearly basis within the constraints of the budget pursuant to Article 13 in the by-laws.

4) Every three years at least one scholarship is to be awarded to the medical staff of the City Hospital of Orvieto, except in the case that there be no request, as stipulated by Prof. Sovena.

5) Assistance shall be granted in the form of scholarships, awarded through a public competition, or in the form of one-year scholarships awarded through universities or other research institutions, or in the form of cash grants of various amounts which will be assigned to candidates referred to the Board of Directors; both scientific merit and the financial means of the candidates will be taken into account. The candidates must submit the proper application form and provided the additional requested information.

6) The regulations governing the amount, form and granting of financial assistance shall be those indicated here, except in the case of amendments that may be made by the Board of Directors in response to new developments.

7) Candidates must submit a curriculum vitae, a statement explaining the reasons for their application, (research project, professional training, specialisation course etc.), a presentation letter written by their advisor and the paperwork indicated in the announcement or on the application form.

8) A committee established by the Enrico and Enrica Sovena Foundation will select the recipients of financial assistance (scholarships, cash grants, contributions etc.). All decisions will be final.

9) At the end of a course of study the candidate must document all the activity he or she has done.

10) In the case of withdrawal or renunciation on the part of one or more winners, the grants and scholarships may be assigned to another candidate which the committee has recommended or believes qualified.
