• The Enrico and Enrica Sovena Foundation was set up to help young, worthy students, graduates in medicine and surgery and in other medical disciplines, in need of financial aid.
  
• This financial aid is assigned in various ways: cash grants for study purposes, contributions to travel expenses for the purpose of training or study, scholarships to pay for courses in professional development, further training and specialisation in the sciences
  
• The various kinds of assistance, the duration of the benefits and the different forms of grants are announced annually by the Board of Directors. The decisions made by this board are to take into account the report previously drawn up by the examining committee.
  
• In making its decisions, the examining committee is to take into consideration several parameters, such as the validity and duration of the project, its financial estimate and the current assets available as determined by the budget.
  
• Among the various criteria for assigning assistance, the committee must also bear in mind that at least one scholarship every three years must go to the medical staff of the Orvieto City Hospital, as provided for in the by-laws of the foundation.
